Since 2014 we have captured and attached GPS radio collars to 72 Roosevelt elk, obtaining over >1,170,000 locations. In 2017 we attached an accelerometer to each collar to examine movement behavior and estimate energetic costs. During captures we attach two individually numbered plastic ear tags and collect tissue samples as practical. We apply uniquely numbered lip tattoos and release elk at their capture locations.
